HD Hyundai Unveils Carbon-Neutral Energy Technology Roadmap at the “2025 Climate Industry International Expo”

HD Hyundai will unveil its latest energy technologies and eco-friendly solutions for a sustainable future at Korea’s largest international exhibition on climate and energy.

HD Hyundai announced that it will participate in the “2025 Climate Industry International Expo,” which will be held at BEXCO in Busan from August 27 to 29. Now in its third year, the Climate Industry International Expo is part of the government’s “Energy Super Week” program and is being held in conjunction with three international ministerial meetings: ▲ the 15th APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting, ▲ the 16th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM16), ▲ the 10th Mission Innovation Ministerial Meeting.

Under the theme “Net Zero Energy Journey with HD HYUNDAI,” HD Hyundai plans to set up an “Energy Superhighway” exhibition zone that allows visitors to see at a glance the entire process from renewable energy–based power generation to consumption. HD Hyundai’s energy affiliates—HD Hyundai Electric, HD Hyundai Energy Solutions, and HD Hyundai Hydrogen—will jointly participate in the expo to present a wide range of eco-friendly products and technologies applicable to each stage: ▲ renewable energy generation, ▲clean energy storage, ▲ clean energy transmission and distribution, ▲ clean energy distribution and utilization.

At the exhibition, HD Hyundai Electric will introduce next-generation eco-friendly power equipment such as power transformers using eco-friendly insulating oil and SF₆-Free gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 99%. It will also showcase battery energy storage systems (BESS), which are emerging as a key solution for future grid stabilization, as well as residual current circuit breakers for electric-vehicle chargers, which will go into mass production in October this year for the first time in Korea. In addition, the company will present a diverse lineup of power-infrastructure solutions to support renewable-energy supply chains such as offshore wind and solar power.

HD Hyundai Energy Solutions will display solar modules and advanced cells—such as tandem cells and HJT (heterojunction) cells—based on high-efficiency solar-cell technologies. The 645-Watt solar module it is unveiling has been designed to maximize power-generation efficiency and meets carbon-emission reduction criteria, earning Grade-1 certification under the Korea Energy Agency’s carbon-certification scheme. HD Hyundai Energy Solutions has localized the entire process from TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) cells to module manufacturing for this product.

HD Hyundai Hydrogen will introduce SOEC (solid oxide electrolysis cells) systems for producing clean hydrogen and SOFC (solid oxide fuel cells) systems for eco-friendly power generation. SOFCs produce no vibration, noise, or soot during power generation, allowing them to be installed freely in urban areas or inside buildings. HD Hyundai Hydrogen plans to begin mass production of Korean-type SOFC power facilities in the second half of 2026, and as its first project, it intends to build a hydrogen fuel-cell power plant in Ulsan to help expand the broader hydrogen power-generation market.

A representative of HD Hyundai said, “The core of the government’s Energy Superhighway development project lies in power generation based on renewable energy and the establishment of power grids that can utilize that electricity efficiently,” adding, “Leveraging the energy technologies we are presenting at this expo, HD Hyundai will take the lead in building a sustainable ecosystem and driving global decarbonization and the transition to clean energy.”
