HD Hyundai Infracore Earns Leadership Rating in CDP Climate Change Scoring
HD Hyundai’s construction equipment business subsidiary HD Hyundai Infracore is being recognized for its efforts to achieve carbon neutrality.
HD Hyundai Infracore recently announced on February 26, 2024 (Monday), that it received an "A-" rating—the leadership level—for the first time in the domestic construction equipment industry in Korea in the climate change scoring (Climate Change 2023) conducted by global sustainability management evaluation organization Carbon Disclosure Project. The company's rating has steadily improved over the past three years, from a C in 2021 to a B in 2022.
This global project evaluates and requests the disclosure of climate change and environmental management information from major companies worldwide and publishes a report for reference by global financial investment institutions and customers.
HD Hyundai Infracore has been praised for its proactive efforts in implementing its carbon neutrality roadmap, becoming the first construction equipment company in Korea to pledge carbon neutrality for all its workplaces by 2050. These efforts include adopting renewable energy sources and developing eco-friendly products.
HD Hyundai Infracore made history within the HD Hyundai Group last year by becoming the first affiliate to secure renewable energy for its Gunsan plant through a power purchase agreement with an external supplier. The company is also installing solar power generation facilities at its Incheon plant.
The company has also been named "Industry Mover" in the "Machinery and Electrical Equipment" sector of the 2023 Corporate Sustainability Assessment by S&P Global, which comprehensively evaluates companies' environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management performance by sector.
“We achieved positive results in global ESG evaluations thanks to our proactive goal setting and strategy implementation in response to the climate crisis. We will continue to pay attention to the global climate crisis and strive to achieve successful carbon neutrality,” said Won-chan Um, Chief ESG Officer of HD Hyundai Infracore.
HD Hyundai Infracore is expanding its lineup of mini-electric excavators with the launch of a 1.7-ton model last August. The company is also developing hydrogen engines for commercial vehicles and construction equipment, with plans to commercialize them by 2025.
