HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI) is suspending operations across all of its worksites to inspect safety conditions and fundamentally prevent serious workplace accidents.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries announced that it will conduct a three-day “Safety Shutdown” beginning on Wednesday, October 29.

The measure comes amid growing concerns following a series of safety incidents and reflects management’s firm belief that no value is more important than the lives and safety of employees.

During this period, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to focus all efforts on rebuilding its safety management system.

On October 29, the company will provide special safety training for all employees. From October 30, production activities at all worksites will be suspended for two days while the company carries out intensive safety measures, including: △ re-conducting risk assessments across all worksites and comprehensively reviewing high-risk operations, and △ making large-scale improvements to safety and disaster prevention facilities and working environments.

In particular, to ensure that the initiative goes beyond a routine inspection, the company will strictly restrict the resumption of operations in any process where identified hazards have not been fully addressed.

An HD Hyundai Heavy Industries official stated, “We deeply recognize our responsibility regarding the recent safety incidents and sincerely apologize for causing concern to the public and our workers. This Safety Shutdown is not a symbolic measure, but a new turning point aimed at fundamentally transforming the company’s safety culture.”

The official added, “Operations will resume only after safety has been fully secured at the worksite. We will dedicate all available resources to creating a workplace where every worker, including those employed by our partner companies, can work with confidence and peace of mind.”
