HD Hyundai Oilbank to Donate KRW 100 million in Scholarships for Truck Drivers’ Children
HD Hyundai Oilbank, through the HD Hyundai 1% Nanum Foundation (Chairman Kwon Oh-gap), is teaming up with the Cargo Welfare Foundation to provide scholarships to support the education of children of truck drivers.
HD Hyundai Oilbank announced on July 15 that it held the 2025 Hope Wheel Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony at the Cargo Welfare Foundation in Seoul. The event was attended by Choi Kwang-sik, Chairman of the Cargo Welfare Foundation, and Hwang In-jin, Senior Executive Director at HD Hyundai Oilbank, among others.
From March of this year, HD Hyundai Oilbank recruited scholarship applicants over a two-month period through the Cargo Welfare Foundation. A total of 115 students were selected, all children from truck-driver households in need of support.
HD Hyundai Oilbank has been running this scholarship program since 2012 to encourage the dreams and aspirations of teenagers from truck-driver families who are diligently pursuing their studies despite difficult circumstances. Including this year’s support, the company has now provided a total of KRW 1.4 billion in scholarships to 1,640 students.
Hwang In-jin, Senior Executive Director in charge of external relations at HD Hyundai Oilbank, said, “We decided to continue the scholarship program this year so that our young people can focus on their studies in a better educational environment,” adding, “We will further strengthen social contribution activities that allow companies and society to grow together.”
Meanwhile, in addition to the Hope Wheel scholarship program, HD Hyundai Oilbank has been carrying out the Dream Assist initiative for 13 years to support young people’s dreams. As part of this, the company offers a variety of programs for high school students in the Seosan region, including a mentoring program with Seoul National University and on-site briefings on university admissions
