HD Hyundai Electric is set to strengthen its presence in the European market by showcasing eco-friendly power technologies, including SF₆-Free GIS(*), at the world’s largest power grid exhibition.

HD Hyundai Electric announced that it will participate in CIGRE Paris Session 2026, which will be held at the Palais des Congrès de Paris in Paris, France, from August 23 (Sunday) to August 28 (Friday).

First launched in 1921, the CIGRE Paris Session is a globally renowned international event in the power systems sector with a history spanning more than a century. Held every two years, the event brings together electric utilities, transmission system operators (TSOs), power equipment manufacturers, and technical experts from around the world to share the latest industry technologies and discuss the future direction of power grid development. More than 11,200 power industry professionals from 99 countries attended the 2024 event.

In recent years, the European Union (EU) has strengthened regulations on fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases) and is gradually restricting the use of gases with high global warming potential (GWP), including sulfur hexafluoride (SF₆), which is commonly used in high-voltage circuit breakers.

In response to these market changes, HD Hyundai Electric will showcase its 72.5kV and 145kV eco-friendly GIS models, along with the 420kV eco-friendly GIS model, GREENTRIC 550SRE, which recently completed testing. In particular, GREENTRIC 550SRE, the first domestically developed model of its kind in Korea, is an SF₆-Free GIS solution designed for a key voltage class used in more than half of Europe’s major power grids. Through this exhibition, HD Hyundai Electric plans to highlight its technological competitiveness in eco-friendly GIS solutions across a wide range of voltage levels to European customers.

Meanwhile, on the evening of August 25 during the exhibition, HD Hyundai Electric will host a networking event aboard a cruise on the Seine River for major European utilities and customers. Under the theme “Navigating the Future of Energy,” the company will share its vision for the energy transition and future power grids with global power industry stakeholders while exploring future opportunities for collaboration.
